教师培训 | 思维在课堂中迸发深入——新学期教师培训英语专题
2019年2月21日,来自三十五中国际部,高中部,初中部,志成小学和黄城根小学的英语、文综老师齐聚三十五中国际部,进行为期一天的英语培训。
Teachers from No.35 International Dept., High School Dept., Middle School Dept., Zhicheng Elementary School, and Huangchenggen Elementary School gathered at ZIA for the English teacher training on 02/12/2019.
Ms. Emily Hong Zhu, the leader of the English Group gave a lecture about the training at the beginning of the morning session. She welcomed the teachers on behalf of ZIA and introduced the schedule. Ms. Zhu also talked about the unique lecturers as a colleague/friend—Doris has an inspiring teaching style, James is very experienced in teaching in China, and Alyssa is so good at dancing and maintaining a dynamic classroom.
作为第一位分享者,黎慧老师以” How to achieve the In-depth Reading in Literature”为主题展开,介绍了国际部英语课程的特点,内容,教学法 和领导思想。说到“what to teach,”黎慧老师以“小说的要素”为引导,结合中文小说,以自己少年时读《飘》的经历为例,为大家展示如何去梳理一篇小说的要素。
Ms. Doris Hui Li was the first lecturer. She talked about how to achieve the in-depth reading in literacture, and what teaching techniques and philosophy that teachers in ZIA apply. Ms. Li started this section with discussing the elements of fiction novel, and related the literature instruction to her own experience when she read Gone with the Wind as a teenager.
黎慧老师综合英语组的教学经验,分享了国际部常用于阅读,启发学生深度思考的技巧与策略。“3-level question”的教学法引发了全场老师的思考和讨论,段新岩老师上台为大家介绍了“3-level question”模型以及实际课堂中的教学实践成果,以层级提问的方式检测学生的阅读成效,激发学生对文本内容进行深入的思考。
诸虹老师结合实际课堂,对“situational strategy”、“story board”和“analytical writing”等方法进行说明和展示。
Ms. Li then shared some other in-depth reading teaching strategies that ZIA English teachers employed. In this section, Ms. Eileen Xinyan Duan presented how teachers integrated “3-level question” strategy in Year 1 class. Ms. Li also talked about the situational strategy that Ms. Zhu used in reading comprehension, and other strategies such as story board and analytical writing.
两篇SAT阅读材料成为各个小组讨论的话题,老师们尝试着对文本提出3层问题,练习深度思考的技巧与策略,各位老师主动分享了自己的思考和心得,引发了全场的热切探讨。
Next section was group activity Ms. Li selected 2 SAT reading articles to help teachers practice the strategies. All the teachers were engaged in this part, and some teachers shared their reflection on the activity.
下午,培训主题是“How to develop students’ ‘Critical thinking skills in English classes?’”,由James和袁曾增老师开展。从破冰游戏开始,James引发老师们对于英语学习的思考——To learn any language we must “do”,为了引导学生们“做中学”,老师们需要教授学生们一些技能,在英语学习中除了最常规的“听说读写”技能,批判性思维也是一项重要的能力。紧接着,James从批判性思维者的角度以及如何在课堂中实现批判性思维的训练和培养进行了讲述和分享。
In the afternoon, the training topic was How to develop students’ “Critical thinking skills in English classes?”, which was presented by James and Alyssa. Started from the ice-breaking game, James inspired the teachers to reflect upon English learning and came up with the ideas that to learn any language we must ‘do’, and that to ensure students could succeed in learning by doing, it is our teachers’ responsibility to cultivate their English learning skills, of which critical thinking is an important one. In the next sections, James explained and shared his understanding and experience of how to realize the cultivation of such a skill in actual English classes.
袁曾增老师从破冰活动开始,引入了critical thinking这一主题关键词,通过精心设计的互动游戏让参加培训的老师们了解、理解、逐渐掌握了critical thinking的三大内涵——Description、Analysis、Evaluation。袁老师分享了上学期AP培训的经历、感受和相关学习资料,让老师们通过真实的AP考生作文感受AP的评分标准和学术规范。
Alyssa Yuan also began with a warm-up activity, from which the keyword, “critical thinking”, was introduced. She then used a well-designed game to make the teachers understand and try to master the three connotations of “critical thinking”, which all groups enjoyed much. Apart from this, Alyssa also shared with the teachers what she had learned and experienced in the AP training last semester, and let the teachers have the access to authentic AP writing from the candidates.
虽然本次培训只有短短的一天时间,但一场场精彩的分享、一次次走心的活动,老师们也不断进行着思维的逐渐深入与探索,希望这次培训可以启发思维在课堂中的迸发碰撞,成为日常教学中的有效方法!
Although the training lasted for only one day, all the teachers were led to go through thinking exploration via the wonderful sharing and activities. Sincerely hope that the training will generate certain inspiration and reflection in everyone’s mind and benefit real teaching practice in future.
